General Information

RoundThorn Slainte, Born in 2023, To make 16.2hh, Chestnut ISH Colt by Candy De Nantuel (Luidam x Diamant De Semilly x Quidam De Revel), out of Atricia RoundThorn, KWPN Mare, (Padinus x Burggraaf x Le Mexico).

Candy De Nantuel was the highlight of the Fences Elite Auction in 2015, and rightly so  -  jumping with style, boldness and explosive power.  He received an historic 19/20 at his licensing, and jumped fantastically in his early career, easily winning the Selle Francais Stallion Masters early in 2017.  So convincing is this young stallion, that in his first season at stud he was the fourth most used stallion in France in 2016 - just behind his Damsire Diamant De Semilly.  In 2017 he was the winner of the Selle Francais Stallion Masters for 5 yr olds and had 15/17 clear rounds with Thomas Rousseau he ended 4th at the French Championship.  In 2018 he had 13/16 clear rounds during his jumping season and ended 9th at the French Championships.

Atricia RoundThorn, Grade A, competed successfully with S.J.A.I. up to 1.30mt with Suzanne Posnett and awarded 'Select' mare status with 2* merit for her own performance in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook.  Retired sound to stud.

Sire: Candy De Nantuel (Luidam - Diamant De Semilly - Quidam De Revel)

Candy de Nantuel is a newcomer on the breeding scene who is certainly turning heads on the national and international stage. His outstanding canter, coupled with his energy, elasticity, blood and temperament are all indicators that this is a stallion who we will hear much from in future. An excellent damline completes the package and makes Candy an exciting prospect for jumping breeders – all seven stallions in the first three generations of his pedigree jumped to grand prix level, while his dam and both grand-dams also had successful sport careers up to 1.40m level. At over 54% blood, he is also one to consider for modern eventing breeders.

DamSire: Padinus (Heartbreaker - Grannus - Tangelo xx)

Padinus’s sire Heartbreaker jumped triumphantly under Peter Geerink. Among other things he won the ‘Best Stallion’ title at the International Stallion Show in Zwolle and took fourth place in the prestigious Aachen Grand Prix. Heartbreaker also shines as a showjumper up-grader in the world of breeding. Padinus was bred by Bert Poppelaars out of the International showjumper mare Ladina. Under her rider Wil Schellekens Ladina has been very successful at high levels. Thus among other things she came second in the Luxembourg Grand Prix. The dam’s sire Grannus is among one of the best stallions ever in the world. As well as dozens of progeny who achieve in International show jumping such as the legendary jumpers Top Gun and Grannusch, Grannus can also be found as dam’s sire of the top International horses Weihaweig and For Pleasure. Padinus also carries a lot of blood from the thoroughbred stallions Tangelo xx and Courville xx in the third and fourth generations of the dam line. With his capacities as a show jumper, Padinus is among the top of his season’s crop.
